Keith Urban has released the brand new video for “Coming Home,” his current single featuring pop singer and co-write Julia Michaels. The clip stars his musical guest toward the end of the video.
Keith said, “The concept for the video was really (director) Andy Hines’ idea. He suggested the heightened reality that we see in the video, which keeps it more like a dream – an idea, more than an actuality. It was also important to have Julia there – she’s great energy to be around and I love singing with her, so I wanted us to be on stage at the same time to capture that.”
Keith became a fan of Julia's after hearing her 2017 hit, as he tells us exclusively. “It started with hearing her EP when it came out, maybe a year and a half ago, end of 2016 maybe? She had a song called 'Issues' that was a big hit and then I went and got her EP which had maybe seven or eight songs on it, and it just spoke to me — her way of singing, her way of writing, her lyricism, her melody, her phrasing. She seems so incredibly original to me. She reminded me a bit of Joni Mitchell, she reminded (me a) bit of Shawn Colvin, but she had her own thing and it was so unique. I thought I would love to write with her to see what comes of it.”
Julia is a co-writer along with Keith on “Coming Home.” The song is featured on Keith's new Graffiti U album.
He is currently in production rehearsals in Nashville in preparation for his 62-city Graffiti U World tour which kicks off on June 15th at St. Louis’ Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre.
